Natural Dyes and Eco Printing


Introducing Natural Foraged Dyes 

Exploring natural dying techniques to create a variety of colours and effects on silk and cotton. We'll be exploring our local area, foraging natural seasonal dye stuffs and learning how to process them for the dye bath. This introductory workshop will cover fabric preparation and dye processes through which you can achieve a range of beautiful colours from native garden and hedgerow plants. We'll start with simple cold process dyes and move through to bundle dying and incorporating natural chemical processes to produce some stunning prints and patterns for you to build on at home and incorporate into a textile project using ingredients from your kitchen. There will be an introduction traditional egg dyeing and an opportunity to try out plant based inks and watercolours.


Includes a homecooked, organic vegetarian lunch.

Foraged Dyes for Forest School Practitioners

Day workshop to include a range of basic skills easily incorporated into a Forest school session. Aimed at Forest School Level 3 Leaders working with children of ages, you will learn about natural foraged dyes and dying techniques such as folding, wrapping and eco printing. 

Includes egg dying for Christmas and Easter sessions, textile dying and skills to prepare watercolours and inks using modifiers. Sessions are tailored accordingly.
